**** Suzy and Angie will be at Crufts 2018 ****

Flinthill: showtime

Rising costs and other commitments have meant we haven't been at many shows this year. But Angie, Suzy and Flora have all been placed well at the championship shows we have entered and Angie has done well at local open shows.

This has been a quiet year for the dogs in the show ring as I have been busy with Suzy's puppies and out and about doing other things this summer. But all the dogs are qualified for Crufts 2017 and Angie has enjoyed making her debut in the ring, winning her minor puppy bitch class at the Pointer Club of Scotland Championship Show as well as being placed at other championship shows. I was thrilled when Suzy, handled by Helga Edmondson, won her strong limit class and her KC Stud Book number at Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland championship show.

Flinthill dogs have been to very few shows this year because of Evie and Mr Woof's puppies. But Frankie and Flora had a good start in the ring this autumn, both qualifying for Crufts 2016 and Frankie was best puppy dog at his first championship show aged only six months. Suzy has won well too and will also be at Crufts 2016.

Evie started the year well, coming second in a big junior class at Manchester CS and then winning runner up top puppy in the Southern Pointer Club top pointer competition. In March, she won second in the junior bitch class at Crufts.

In April, Rose was Best Puppy in Breed and then Best Puppy in Show at Keighley Canine Association Open Show. And Suzy, with handler Sam Anderson-Rowell, was third in a minor puppy bitch class of 17 at WELKS Championship Show. In July, Suzy was best puppy bitch at East of England Championship Show.

Thyme enjoyed a few days back in the show ring recently, and I was so proud when she won Reserve Best Veteran in Show at the DCCA open show from a strong entry of beautiful veterans.

After a break from showing over the summer, this autumn Suzy won second in junior bitch at Driffield Ch Show and first in junior btich at the Pointer Club of Scotland Ch Show. Mr Woof was second in a strong limit class at the same show. Suzy went on to win first in her next two junior classes at South Wales Kennel Assoc and Gundog Society of Wales Ch Shows.

Our first show of the year was Crufts, where Mr Woof won VHC in a large limit dog class.

Evie's first championship show was Birmingham National in May and I was delighted when judge David Wong picked her for Best Puppy in Breed and then she was shortlisted in the puppy group by Frank Kane.  Since then, she has won won well at open and championship shows, being Best Puppy in Show at the Pointer Club Open Show and Best Puppy in Breed at Birmingham National, Richmond and Driffield Championship Shows.

Her wins means she is runner up top puppy in breed for 2013.

Thyme came back in the ring as a veteran and won Best Veteran Bitch at the Pointer Club Open Show and Best Veteran Gundog at Durham County Canine Association Open Show. She won a strong veteran bitch class at the Southern Pointer Club Championship Show to become Reserve Best Veteran in Show and was Best Veteran in Breed at Richmond CS. In October, she was Best Veteran in Show at the Pointer Club of Scotland Championship Show.

Rose made her debut at Gundog Breeds Association of Scotland C S in November and qualified for Crufts 2014. She finished the year by winning her minor puppy bitch class at LKA.

2012 began with a wonderful day for Flinthill at Manchester CS in January. Barbara Wilkinson's Flinthill Forget Me Not JW (Tia) won her third CC and BOB out of 188 pointers under judge Julie Organ. She is now a show champion as she already had 2CCs, 1BOB and 2RCCs.

Also at Manchester, Flinthill came second in the gundog group breeders' competition while Jane and Jessie Dolman's Flinthill Golden Thyme at Zebec won reserve in a huge junior class at her first championship show with Jane.

We had a good day at Crufts too (see Crufts 2012 page) and in April, Thyme came back into the showring after a long break for a great day with some of her progeny at the Pointer Club Championship Show.

She won third in open bitch, with her daughter Tia in second place.  Daisy was second in limit bitch and Mr Woof and Jane and Jessie's Goldie were both third in their strong yearling classes. I was so proud of them all!

In the autumn, Mr Woof won Best of Breed and DCC at Richmond CS and Goldie and her owner and handler Jane Dolman won RCCs at Setter & Pointer and Gundog Breeds of Scotland Championship Shows.
