Flinthill: showtime
2012 began with a wonderful day for Flinthill at Manchester CS in January. Barbara Wilkinson's Flinthill Forget Me Not JW won her third CC and BOB out of 188 pointers under judge Julie Organ. She is now a show champion as she already had 2CCs, 1BOB and 2RCCs.
Also at Manchester, Flinthill came second in the gundog group breeders' competition while Jane Dolman's Flinthill Golden Thyme won reserve in a huge junior class at her first championship show with Jane.
Now we are looking forward to Crufts but even more to enjoying being outside in the showring at the spring and summer shows!
Shows in 2011
After a quiet start to the year, Flinthill dogs were out and about at local open shows and a few championship shows during spring and early summer.
But like most people in the current economic climate, I had to limit how many shows I could attend and how many dogs I could take.
So I decided not to show Thyme until she is a veteran and to concentrate on her progeny, in particular Monty and Daisy, with a few classes for Goldie and Mr Woof while they were still puppies.
A high-spot of the year has been my first judging appointment to award Challenge Certificates. I was privileged to have a quality entry of 114 dogs at East of England Championship Show at Peterborough in July.
Later in the month, Mr Woof was Best Puppy in Show at the Southern Pointer Club Championship Show.
Special congratulations to Barbara Wilkinson for a string of successes with Daisy and Monty’s sister, Flinthill Forget Me Not (Tia) including RCC at Crufts and BIS at Border Counties Gundog Club Open Show in January. And in August, she won RCC at SKC Championship Show.
And Duncan Busutill’s Malta Ch Flinthill Bracken (Zen) who is Thyme’s brother, has been continuing his winning ways in Malta.
Flinthill had a great day at the Pointer Club of Scotland Championship Show at the beginning of October. Tia was Reserve Best in Show and won the bitch CC while Mr Woof won the dog RCC from junior, aged only 13 months. Monty and Daisy were third in their large postgraduate classes, Monty's son, Rosemary Mason's Freebreeze Figaro, was best puppy dog and the Whinbarrow dogs, bred by Kairen Barraclough out of Thyme's sister Inca, both won their classes.
