Flinthill: the girls

Sh Ch Flinthill Wild Thyme JW, was born in January 2006 and was my very special girl. Not only did she excell in the show ring, prove she could find birds on the moors and produce some beautiful progeny, she was a joy to live with and always made me smile.

Sadly, Thyme suddenly passed away in December 2017, aged nearly 12 years. She enjoyed a good run in the fields and ate her tea then died peacefully in her sleep overnight, having had a long and happy life.

Thyme was well named as she was full of fun and energy, whether she was in the show ring, playing in the fields or on the moors, looking for birds.

Her mother was Wherathy Peters Present at Flinthill (Crufts group winner Ch Calderside Love in a Mist at Wherathy and Calderside Reluctant Knight) and her sire was Crookrise Rory (Sh Ch Crookrise Rhum and Calderside Nigael at Wherathy).

Thyme became a show champion aged only two years after some spectacular wins in the show ring, including Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts. She had 1 BOB, 3CCs and 2 RCCs.

She had a wonderful time on the Munster Circuit in August 2012 in Ireland, winning a Green Star and Best of Breed and spending hours running on the beautiful Irish beaches with her pointer pals.

During 2013, she was back in the showring as a beautiful and energetic veteran and won Best Veteran Bitch at the Pointer Club Open Show, Best Veteran Gundog at Durham County Canine Association Open Show and Reserve Best Veteran in Show at the Southern Pointer Club Championship Show. She was also Best Veteran in Breed at Richmond CS and in October, was Best Veteran in Show at the Pointer Club of Scotland Championship Show.

In 2014, she won Reserve Best Veteran in Show at DCCA open show in July - her first time at a show since the previous year.

But more important than her showring success, she had two lovely litters, the first by Crookrise Floyd and the second by Wherathy Walter at Calderside. Three of her puppies are in the KC Stud Book after winning well in the showring. And one of her daughters, Tia, owned by Barbara Wilkinson, is a UK show champion.

Thyme had some remarkable progeny who in turn, have produced almost 50 grandchildren for her in the UK and overseas. I am proud that she has passed on her wonderful temperament and benefited the breed.
